450 HANDRAIL DOTS by MCI LIGHT at the SAGRADA FAMILIA BASILICA in Barcelona Comfortable, hidden and antivandalistic light

MCI LIGHT, the architectutal lighting from GRUPO MCI, has the honour to collaborate with Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia Basilica to light up the indoor área at the final part of the bell towers at the Pasión and Nacimiento façades .

These towers, with a height of 98m and 117m, are part of the 4 towers placed in every of the 3 façades as in Antoni Gaudí’s creation the towers were related to the 12 apostle.

Inside of every tower there is a spiral staircase with a hand rail used to install the HANDRAIL DOTS. These luminaires are integrated and hidden in the hand rails and thanks to their simetric optic they equally wash all the walls providing with a high visual confort to all the visitors. The colour temperature chosen is warm white (3k) to highlight the stone colours. The distance between the different dots is 40cm to achieve a lighting uniformity.
A core idea in lighting is "Luminaires must be hidden; invisible; being part of the space as the light must be the only lead” this is the reason why MCI LIGHT disigned the HANDRAIL DOT, mini dots with 15mm diameter totally itegrated in the handrails to enlight stairs; tracks; squares….without noticing them and highlighting the different spaces.

HANDRAIL DOT are manufactured stainless steel AISI 316L and a PC diffuser, thanks to its IP66 protection against rain and dust; this luminaire can be used indoor or outdoor. Among its options you can find flat and curvel models as well as simmetric and asymmetric. Its fixation at the handrail counts on an antivandalid kit to protect them.
