Shopping Mall Splau, Barcelona

At the end of December 2012, the Shopping Mall Splau, managed by Unibail Rodamco, completed the remodeling of their facilities to improve the image of the center and for better usability. The investment made was around 15 million euros.

In this restyling, 350 meters of SmartLedFlex® Round RGB were embedded in the ring-shaped roof that covers the restaurants and shopping areas offering a modern and original image of the Mall.

SmartLedFlex® is a flexible linear lighting product for both indoor and outdoor (IP66) applications. It is perfect for architectural illumination that provides a high performance homogenous light to highlight the perimeters and outlines of buildings, bridges, etc.

SmartLedFlex® has 100 LEDs/m. SMD Nichia Side View enclosed in special flexible polymer material, which allow the product to be bent into different winding shapes and the product is protected against UV rays thanks to the silicone outer shell.

To control the lighting application the communication protocol DMX512-A, often abbreviated as DMX (Digital Multiplex), was used. This protocol is used for installations RGB where you look for colour escalades, sweet or quick dynamics changes even multimedia contents if you have a big number of luminaires.

The finality of those systems is to allow generating different lighting scenes (programs), which can be activated in autonomic way by presence sensors, crepuscule ones, or by time sensors, through programmed events or by users with control keyboard or remote control, Smartphone's, digital screens or wall-pushers simply.

The Shopping Mall covers around 55.000m2 and has an open architecture. The shops are located in a ring-shape area over two floors, including 18 cinemas, free parking for up to 2,800 vehicles and a wide selection of shops from different fashion brands. With the reform, Unibail Rodamco aimed to create the best Shopping Mall in Barcelona.
