Top Tent, Makkah
Grupo MCI just finished the lighting project for lighting up six tents located on the top of two of the seven towers of the largest building ever build, Abraj Al-Bait Tower.
The R&D Department of Grupo MCI that carried out the project designed and developed a fully custom made high power linear lighting fixture, 500mA, to be placed in the windows by using a special braces holding. The fixture has aluminium housing and polycarbonate lens.
In total each tent has one tower with 12 windows, and in each window one projector composed by six high power linear lighting fixtures were installed with 7 and 5 LED modules and with IP54 protection class. The custom made projector with a consumption of 80W can be oriented in the proper angle up to 23˚. The input voltage is 230V AC with a maximum power drain of 83W. The weight of the luminary is about 5,5 kg.
As mentioned in the last MCI NEWS from January 2013, the Abraj Al-Bait Towers are located in the center of Makkah, in Saudi Arabia. This impressive complex is currently the largest building ever build in the world (size by mass), the tallest building in Saudi Arabia and the world's second tallest building in the world with its 607 m2 center.
